Artichokes

This was an assignment in Shirley Horachek's watercolor class.  I like the way this turned out.  It doesn't always happen that way.

Bovine Silhouettes

I had my camera with me in the car one day when I came upon this scene driving home from somewhere.  I drove past it thinking what a pretty image it was.  Decided to drive back and take the photo.  Glad I did.

White Rose

The flowers are outlined with black Acrylic paint, a technique introduced in a recent watercolor class.  I like the simplicity of the forms, the positive and negative space, and I enjoyed the entire process.

South of San Francisco

I sketched this on the drive home from watching a Giants game. Unfortunately, they lost. A great weekend, nevertheless.

I love the simplicity of this exchange between mother and son.

sketching practice

I frequently sketch parts of images from various magazine photos just for the practice.

Valley View

After my original plein air painting, in realistic colors, which looked terribly boring, I painted over the original, added many new patterns, and decided it was a little bit improved.
