Expressive color workshop One-minute sketches

One-Minute sketches

I recently attended a workshop on Expressive color.  These are one-minute sketches we did at the very end of the class.  I added the color after returning home just for practice.  We had this fantastic model all day.  Wonderful workshop, great instructor, excellent day.

Basking Baby Elephant Seals

I enjoy painting these beautiful, sleek, curved forms.

Paint-Out

This painting started out up-side-down...just getting rid of excess paint on the palette.  When I turned it right-side up, it looked like a hydrangea in a yellow vase to me.  Rarely do my paint-outs look like anything,

Neutrals

I have been practicing painting neutral colors.  I love painting spools of thread...especially the old wooden ones.

Colorful Iris

I wish I could remember the name of this beautiful, colorful Iris.  Deep, rich, gorgeous colors.

Artichokes

This was an assignment in Shirley Horachek's watercolor class.  I like the way this turned out.  It doesn't always happen that way.
